                                             Final Reflection

 Project 1
When I was first introduced to project 1, I was slightly confused on the objective of the entire thing. I could not tell if the prompt was asking for a community that we wished we were a part of such as an amateur soccer player striving to be in the MLS, or a community we were already a part of. After some clarifying questions, I found my way around the project. I eventually found that it would be easiest and most interesting to talk about my graduation using my diploma as a supporting text. I believe if I had started the essay sooner and spent more time finding a topic with more available texts it would have helped when it came time to put it all together and revise it.
In my opinion, the hardest part of this paper was identifying a text that fit my community and the guidelines presented. Mat pointed out that the text involving the Eucharistic minister pin was slightly weak. I went back and made the story behind the pin more personable and detailed. I think that it tied the paper together and gave the essay a more personable tone. Overall, I think that this project taught me a lot about what goes into writing a personal story and easy it can be to stray away from the prompt at hand.

    Project 2
My second project was about the Shelton Youth Soccer Organization and how it succeeds in creating relationships between their parents, players, and coaches. I interviewed Stephen Bell from the YES coaching program and asked him about himself and the role he plays in creating a successful community. Although the topic was done over Skype, I think that his insight still played a valuable roll in my paper. This topic seemed good because I have already been a part of this community since I was 4 and already had prior knowledge on the community itself.
The hardest part of this project was finding an effective way of including enough about my community and balancing that with enough information from sources. I found that it was really difficult to connect the sources to the community because not much prior research had been done on the connection between sports and community. I had to find a work around by looking at similar communities. For example, the sports betting community, and how they relate to SYSO.

Project 3
The hardest part of my last project was making my genres unique but still effective. I knew that everybody would most likely be doing a social media aspect and a written poster or flyer. I decided that I wanted my last genre to be shirts and jerseys. I thought this genre was fitting because of its ability to spread the word about SYSO while also drawing in potential new players to expand the community. If I were to complete this project again, I may have delved deeper into the different types of genres to make my project all the more interesting.
